Twillingate.net is a website dedicated to promoting tourism for the Twillingate area. Our focus is primarily tourism with a secondary interest in reviving and preserving history and genealogy.

We attempt to preserve history while looking forward to the future with optimism. The tourism industry is one of the mainstays of our municipal and provincial economies. The stability of which warrants serious consideration towards the needs and desires of tourists.

Our goal aligns itself with the idea that Twillingate has the potential to become one of the most recognized and visited Outports in Newfoundland by concentrating on it's online presence.

Tourists are of two types:

1.) The expatriated local tourist that has ties or a history with Twillingate and it's people. We all have family members and friends that have moved away to pursue a livelihood, schooling, or for other reasons. Oftentimes these people return to visit and reacquaint themselves with the places and people. This would be classified as "homegrown tourism".

2.) The tourist with no affiliation to Twilligate and oftentimes no ties to Newfoundland. This creates a greater obligation to provide a clear orientation and explanation of our history and culture, then provide a convenient means of accessing it.

At Twillingate.net we hope to find a proper balance in providing for the two types of tourists above and thereby providing for the local person at home.
